Washington (CNN) — A past president and current board member of the National Rifle Association affirmed Thursday that the organization has changed its position on background checks for gun sales in recent years.

Sandy Froman said Thursday in a town hall on CNN’s “Anderson Cooper 360” that the organization has changed its position since the organization’s executive vice president, Wayne LaPierre, testified before the House Judiciary Committee in 1999.

IdleNoMore

Nearly half of Canadians say they do not support the Idle No More movement and more than half of those with First Nations ancestry share the sentiment, a new poll suggests.

A poll conducted by Forum Research for the National Post found that among those Canadians who were aware of the grassroots movement, 49% said they did not support it. Just 39% of those surveyed said they supported Idle No More, and 12% said they didn’t know.

Lorne Bozinoff, the president of Forum, said that recent demonstrations have shone the spotlight on Idle No More and First Nations issues, but have not led to widespread support for the movement.

“They do have some level of sympathy among the Canadian population, but not for the things they are actually doing, such as the blockades,” he said. “And if they do more of those things it could erode the support for their…

Reacting to a new Fatah logo that appears to depict a united, Israel-free Palestine, the Jewish organization B’nai Brith says it shows the Palestinian Authority and President Mahmoud Abbas are lukewarm about a two-state-solution.

“We are continuing to warn the [Canadian] government not to be fooled into accepting the notion that Fatah and Abbas want real peace with the Jewish state,” said Frank Dimant, head of B’nai Brith Canada. “[A] true partner for peace on the Palestinian side does not exist.”

His remarks echo the U.S.-based Zionist Organization of America, which said the logo proves Fatah and the PA “have no interest in peace with Israel, only its destruction.”

Last month, Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, the official daily newspaper of the Fatah-led PA, issued a logo for the party’s 48th anniversary. It featured a map of the British mandate of Palestine, the state that existed before the 1948 establishment of Israel…

Piers Morgan

On the heels of a polarizing political New Year’s Day – which featured an agreement to stave off the Fiscal Cliff, but no such vote on Hurricane Sandy relief – on Wednesday “Piers Morgan Tonight” guest host Wolf Blitzer welcomed Christine Quinn for her reaction to Congress’s progress:

“I was stunned, it’s really unbelievable,” said the New York City Council Speaker, referring to Speaker John Boehner and the House majority’s refusal to allow a vote on aid for those impacted by the October storm that pounded much of the Eastern seaboard. “We have countless people in New York and New Jersey who’ve been devastated by this storm, and quite frankly, Speaker Boehner just told them to drop dead. And it’s just outrageous.”

Following a tremendous amount of public backlash – most notably from New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie and Republican New York Congressman Peter King of Long Island –…

[np_storybar title=”Watch DMX’s performance of Rudolph the Red-nosed Reindeer” link=”#1″]
[/np_storybar]

The viral video clip of DMX doing an impromptu version of Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer is great. DMX, one of the music world’s most colourful figures — he once brought a machine gun, a stripper and a tiger to a Blender magazine photo shoot — is known as much for his personality as his rhymes. His arrest record is almost as long as his record sales number, and that’s why this Rudolph clip is so awesome. If you think rapping is easy, try making a Christmas song funky and, what’s more, try doing it unaccompanied, and making it up on the spot. Justin Bieber, Rod Stewart, Cee Lo Green and Michael Buble all released glossy Christmas records that shared one thing in common: no soul.

DMX’s Rudolph The Red-nosed Reindeer has soul up the chimney, and here’s nine reasons…

Introduction – CO108T Local Reporting Blog

Over the years, the Malvern constituency has been plagued by gang related crime. Though these are problems which Malvern has faced for a very long time, there are still people who have been fighting to keep it safe, by offering their time and money towards youth and youth and social related programs which try and help steer people in the right path by offering services which will open doors to further opportunity.

Programs that are trying to do this is Dr. Sheridan Cyrus’ Dentistry at Neilson Rd. and Malvern Family, Women’s Resource center in Malvern Mall and Malvern Christian Assembly. Here’s a look at some of the things they have been doing over the years.

MCA – Malvern Christian Assembly CO108T

Another worker from Dr. Sheridan Cyrus’ Dentist office when asked about the crime rate in Malvern also said that she is also new to the area and hasn’t seen as much crime in recent years, but she has heard that in passed years the crime in Malvern was extremely high.

A part of the reason for the decreasing crime rate in Malvern is because of the outreach programs that have been organized in order to keep young persons off of the street.

A few of the neighboring organizations have gathered together to help keep young persons off the “streets” by trying to get them involved in community activities and offering them help with things like employment . This is a huge for why the crime rate in Malvern has been decreasing.

Malvern Christian Assembly, located on 6705 Sheppard Avenue East is a church which offers many programs for youth such as Prayer Meeting, Men’s Soccer, and Ladies Bible study. It began in September 1981. Now in 2012, the church holds a membership of over 1500 persons from over 45 different nationalities.

They meet at the church every Sunday for worship and accept  visitors.
