Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has called on the United States for backup in an attack on Iran. The United States and other countries have denied his request and have asked him to wait for the sanctions imposed to take effect.
President Obama said at State of Union in 2012, “We will stand for the rights and dignities of all human beings men and women, Christians, Muslims and Jews. We will support policy that lead to strong and stable democracies and open markets because tyranny is no match for liberty and we will safe guard Americas against those who threaten our citizens, our friends and our interests. Look at Iran. Through the power of our diplomacy a world that was once divided about how to deal with Iran’s nuclear program now stands as one.”

The state of Iran’s economy has plummeted significantly due to sanctions imposed by the UN (United Nations). According to an article on gaurdian.co.uk, “The Iranian rial fell 5% to an all time low against the US dollar Saturday, according to financial websites. The value of the rial has fallen by almost 57% since June last year, leading to big price increases for imported goods. Israel’s finance minister, Yuval Steinitz, said Iran’s economy “is not collapsing, but it is on the verge of collapse”.
